Worldwide Cancer Research

Bio-Connect is supporting member of World Wide Cancer Research

Worldwide Cancer Research funds lifesaving cancer research projects in the best research institutions in the UK and across the world. It funds exceptional researchers who work 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It does all of those things for one very good reason - to gain a global perspective. Because research doesn’t happen in isolation. The answers will not come from one scientist, in one lab, in one country.

In the 40 years since the charity was founded in St Andrews, Scotland, research has helped double cancer survival rates. It has led to better ways to diagnose, prevent and stop cancer sooner, and has developed kinder, more effective treatments. However, the search for answers can’t stop here.
The research they fund, thanks to ongoing support, enhances our understanding of cancer every day and helps us develop more effective treatments. Treatments you, your family or your family’s family may rely on in the future.

From Argentina to Australia, Milan to Manchester, cancer researchers are working tirelessly around the globe searching for those answers. There are over 15,000 research institutions worldwide discovering, collaborating, sharing knowledge – investigating. That is why they use the money they receive to fund cutting edge research. If they don’t invest in the ideas of today, they risk losing the cures of tomorrow – potentially life-saving answers to cancer.

They receive over 600 grant applications from all over the world for promising research every year. So they leave the selecting process to the experts - the Scientific Advisory Committee. This Committee is made of eminent cancer specialists who give up their time voluntarily to meet and evaluate proposals. The breadth of knowledge and depth of experience of their committee members ensure that only research of the highest calibre is funded. It’s always about the quality of the research not its geography. If an application shows great promise then they will award it funding no matter where in the world it is being carried out.
